It's several years of watching her sitting at the front row during the lessons.
She always wanted to take part,to read even before having a clue whether the reading would be an easy one or not.
I stick to her voice.It was then Alex and Dani got so brave as to try and read the 'rat' role in that reading that started with that of 'Wanda the Witch is at home...'
And then one day she gave me something as a souvenir of the day she took her Communion.I still keep it as a bookmark.
And in 1°ESO,she gave that speech about the different kinds of flamenco dance...
And that day I entered the classroom and she was crying since she had already finished reading a novel whose ending was not as happy as she expected.
You will never get used to this.
It's the second time I will say bye to a student and now the hours we spent in the same class come running wildly from the back of my mind.
When you teach,you see your kids grow up and you know they will stick in your memory as the kids they were. We talked about our shared origins in the sense her parents come from the same place as me.I remember her as someone who craved for reading.
I once wrote her name in my 'school records' book and then it was like that year after year...her name and her surnames.
I just looked for that piece of cardboard with her name and the date of her Communion in it and I read it once and over again.She got stuck in our memories as a little child then and in our memory she will still be like then

Let them know it's Christmas
Good afternoon.
Our kids in 3° and 4° have done some Christmas decorations to hand them in several classes.They tried their best.
Our kids in 5° will perform an Irish sort of Christmas carol,with a few Irish dancing steps in it while their classmates do the singing...
So it seems we can call it an international Christmas,thanks to these cards we got from several countries three years ago.

Control de Inglés.Puntuación máxima:3 PUNTOS
Buenas tardes a todos.
A lo largo de estos días aparecerán colgadas en PASEN las notas de los controles de esta semana de 3°,4° y 5°.
La puntuación máxima del control serán 3 PUNTOS.
Como ya informé por PASEN con respecto al control anterior y ,de acuerdo con los criterios de evaluación que se les entregaron a principio de curso,la nota final de cada trimestre corresponde a cómo se han abordado las cuatro destrezas (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) en clase y en las actividades propuestas para casa, asi como al nivel de compromiso con la asignatura.

16th November. International Day of Flamenco!
Buenas tardes a todos.
La UNESCO declaró al flamenco "patrimonio de interés cultural mundial" en 2010.
Los centros educativos lo celebramos cada 16 de noviembre (como ya hicimos el curso pasado).
Tuve la suerte de participar en un taller de flamenco cuando viví en Irlanda del Norte, a petición del Departamento de Español de uno de los colegios en los que trabajaba.
Como única habitante española del pueblo, un colegio me invitó a ir con ellos y sus alumnas de español de bachillerato a ver un espectáculo flamenco llamado "Jaleo" que se representaba en el teatro de la Ópera de Belfast.
Me di cuenta,entonces, de lo que se valora el flamenco en cualquier rincón del mundo.
5º de primaria ya está realizando su proyecto en Inglés sobre el Flamenco:

Sending loads of love to the Paris people
Cada vez que hay un atentado, cuelgo esta fotografía.
La primera vez que visité Londonderry o Derry en Irlanda del Norte, me impactó esta estatua.
Un amigo de alli me explicó que simboliza las dos religiones que están próximas a entenderse pero siguen sin darse la mano.
Hoy mis pensamientos van a París, a mis amigas de alli (una de ellas,musulmana de raíces argelinas) a las que conocí en mis dos años en Irlanda del Norte.A sus familias.
Siempre han sido tan generosas,tan bonitas por dentro y por fuera.
No juzguemos una religión por las atrocidades de los extremistas radicales.
Mi primera toma de contacto con los conflictos entre religiones fue al vivir en Omagh y trabajar en un colegio católico y otro protestante.Conviví con católicos y protestantes como amigos.
Alli aprendí a ver lo que es querer conseguir que se unan esas manos y se acabe el dolor.
Viví el 11M en Omagh y recibí tanto cariño del pueblo aquellos días que es una deuda moral que me acompañará toda la vida.Por eso, cada vez que sucede algo que tiene como base alguna religión, recurro a esta foto y al aprendizaje vital de aquellos días.
Hoy dedicamos esta fotografía a todos los que sufren a diario por la sinrazón de otros.

Good evening!

I told your kids that I once gave this book to my nephew as a present.It is a book for those who love drawing.It is about all the Marvel superheroes we grew up with and they teach you the techniques you need to master to be able to draw them by yourself.

Halloween y el Día de los Santos
It seems Halloween is here to stay.
I obviously deal with it in my lessons, since it is a festival concerning the English speaking
countries.
Some facts I would like to deal with:
1. Halloween is not from the USA.
2. Halloween dates back to the Celtic festival known as Samhain.
3. The main city to celebrate Halloween is Londonderry (or Derry), in Northern Ireland, the place which claims to be the area where it started to be celebrated
4. I was lucky enough as to live an hour away from Derry, therefore my two and only
Halloween parties took place there. I don´t believe in it outside Ireland, and, therefore I am not in the mood for it if I am not in that country. So, it is time to deal with this Celtic based festival, bearing in mind that I don´t think
it looks real if not in Ireland, since it is there where it makes sense.
I still prefer eating some buñuelos on 1November, I guess it is the tradition I always
kept at home.

So finally the day has come.
We are dealing with TV in 5° this week.
We will be learning a few words about that field and I couldn't miss the chance to post this video.

Wordsearch
Good evening everyone!
There are three students who fulfilled the task about the wordsearch this morning.
They show their scary wordsearches in this video.
If you want to find numbers from 1 to 10 in them, just check the column on the right side
of this blog. Look for GAMES and then you´ll see "Wordsearch. Numbers 1, 2, 3".
I hope you find them all!!!

Project and dictionaries
Good evening.
As your kids must have told you, there will be a project day every week.
Depending on the class your kids are in, it will be done either every Thursday or Friday.
The aim is to make them realise how English becomes a powerful tool to cope with our own reality, far beyond our own school walls.
I am sure they will learn to love our weekly project and to work in their teams, pursuing the same targets in learning.
I'll send you some information in PASEN in a few weeks time.
I will leave the summer decoration until Autumn comes. It sort of "breaks my heart" to leave those pools and ice cream icons behind (young at heart, so they say!)
About the dictionary, it's fine to bring any bilingual dictionary, though I particularly prefer My World Learner's Dictionary (Dayton Publishing).
Enjoy the remains of the day.

I'm sure your kids must have talked about our new companions at school for the whole year.
As you know, there are several kids from other countries and who will try their best to communicate in Spanish in due time. Your kids have been really
"cool" (as our new students would say).They've tried their best to make them feel at home all the time, making it so nice to stare at them all playing in the playground and making good friends from the very start of the school year!
So far so good and still counting.
Let's call it a day!

Farewell, teacher Carmen
Hola a todos.
Hace unos años que soy tutora de alumnos de prácticas de Magisterio ( Lengua Extranjera ). Este año he tenido la suerte de tener conmigo a Carmen. Llegó en el segundo trimestre. Desde el primer día, se ha convertido en un gran apoyo en las clases, con una implicación total. Ha sido la lucecita que alumbra el camino de los que se encontraban un tanto desorientados y les ha ayudado a no perderse. Los niños han valorado su trabajo y atención constantes.Le han querido regalar algunas cosas (incluso ha habido alguna que otra lágrima).Carmen me ha regalado estas dos manualidades tan bonitas (hechas por ella) para las clases:
Me alegra mucho saber que ya es maestra, mucho más allá de la espera de un título. La vocación no se consigue a golpe de títulos sino que es algo innato.Carmen ha demostrado a diario que tiene vocación, un nivel lingüístico que le permite transmitir perfectamente lo que queremos enseñar y comunicar y una experiencia personal y profesional previas: lo que llamamos: "tener tablas".
Por eso sé que la querrán donde trabaje,porque alguien con tanto entusiasmo por lo que hace no se merece otro trato.

Os informo de que ya he colgado las notas del control de 2ºB,3ºA, 3ºB , 4ºA y 4ºB en PASEN.
Recuerdo que para 2ºB, 3º y 4º, al no ser determinante para la nota global de la evaluación, la nota de este
control es cualitativa.
La correspondencia sería:
-Excelente: notable alto/sobresaliente.
-Bueno: bien/notable
-Adecuado: suficiente
-Regular: Insuficiente
