Immortality
Hola de nuevo.
Mientras volvemos a adentrarnos en un nuevo trimestre,os dejo este video de listening a los padres.
Uno de los que lo han creado es la persona por la que me he convertido en lo que soy.
Con siete años chapurreaba una de las canciones que escribió ('Round and Round'),siendo mi primer recuerdo nítido intentando hablar en ese idioma.
Gary Kemp me inspiró con sus letras y melodías a coger los vinilos de mis hermanas (aún no existía internet para los mortales españoles) con 11 años, a tumbarme en el suelo en verano, a pasarme las tardes copiando las letras en folios,diccionario en mano y a traducirlas.
La primera canción que recuerdo haber aprendido haciendo listening y sacando la letra sin tenerla (no existía internet ni aparecía en el vinilo) fue Through the Barricades.
Si entráis en 6°A,veréis que en la puerta pintada con pintura de pizarra sobre un armario hay una frase: 'we are the artisans and we've been crafted'.Resume la idea de lo que soy.Mi vocación surgió con la canción en la que aparece esa frase.Todos somos artesanos y a la vez hemos sido tallados.
Por eso comparto este video de Gary Kemp en homenaje a su gran ídolo,David Bowie hoy que se cumple un año de su muerte.
La música me llevó a la Filología Inglesa sin yo saberlo a mis infantiles 7 años de edad...

News from England and Italy
Hi!
Teachers Linda and Barbara (from England and Italy) just wrote to say they got our letters!
We are already waiting to get theirs by post.
Here I upload something the kids in Verona wrote for us.
They know we are learning about "There is/are..."
¡Nos envían fotos con las tarjetas que mandaron nuestros niños y niñas de 2°, de su clase y de las tarjetas que están enviando por Europa!

Ezine (Periódico Digital)
Hace varios años realicé un proyecto de periódico digital con alumnos de 1°ESO. Ahora ya están en ESO/Bachillerato.
Este año, para dar respuesta a la inquietud reportera de varios alumnos, he creado otro en el mismo portal educativo de Finlandia en el que registré aquel "Santo Domingo News" (el nombre que escogieron aquellos alumnos).
Crearé páginas en función de la demanda de los niños y niñas.
Sé que el apartado de tecnología y ordenadores (Technology) será el más visitado, junto con el de música (Music).
Me acaban de dar de alta el periódico en este portal:

Children's Rights
It is important to remember kids have rights every single day,not only today, when all the mass media will remind us of them despite showing vulnerable kids on TV and the internet in tough circumstances in their lives,depriving them of their own right to be respected when in pain and suffering.
I submit a link to a website whose aim is to protect Irish kids' rights.

Proyecto E-Twinning
Queridas familias,
Ya me han aprobado el proyecto E-Twinning que elaboré hace tiempo.
Colaboraré con una maestra de un centro de Primaria de Reino Unido.
Probablemente se irán uniendo más centros de diversos países europeos.
Os iré manteniendo informados desde aqui con la etiqueta (Label) "E-Twinning 2016".

Lest We Forget
Hoy es un día importante en UK.
Armistice Day.
Hoy se rinde homenaje a los soldados británicos que murieron en la Gran Guerra.
Desde el 1 hasta el 11 de noviembre de cada año,se lleva un poppy (amapola) en la ropa como pin.
A mi me dieron el mío y lo llevé en el colegio protestante de Omagh donde trabajé hace ya 14 años.
Aún lo conservo.Hoy lo llevaré,no por razones políticas o religiosas sino como ejemplo cultural también.

Project
Dear families,
Those who have known me for years also know how I carried out several projects with other countries several years ago.
I already made a new one and I am happy to say that we will be in touch with kids from a primary school in England.
It is in a small village on the coast.
I will make kids take part in it according to several tasks linked to our subject (and others).
More info to be posted soon!

Language can link kids beyond frontiers
Good evening.
As you know,October is considered (at school) to be a month to raise some money for those countries whose kids are deprived of their basic rights.
There was a campaign last week to raise awareness of the importance of cooperation.
English is a language and,therefore,the means to relate to kids all over the world.
That is the reason why kids in 4° have started writing two letters to send them to two girls who suffered devastation after the floodings in Haiti,a few years ago.They are also 9 like them and we will send those letters as soon as we finish them next week.We are all sure they will make them smile when they get them.

Halloween
Welcome to this blog after a long break.
Halloween is here at last and as I do every single year,I'll give my view on it.
I was raised into a generation to which Halloween was something only to be seen in American films of the late 70s and 80s.
However,I was lucky enough as to end up living in Northern Ireland,where the Halloween tradition as an evolution of the Shamáin Celtic festival is supposed to have been originated at first.
Halloween is not an American tradition but one the Irish immigrants brought into the States.
I learned about all that during my stay near Londonderry (or Derry) for Halloween.When you walk through fields,next to graves in churches in the city centre,covered by the mist and with ravens as pedestrians,waiting on traffic lights posts to cross the road,then Halloween makes sense.
Therefore,I do not believe in the "imported" Halloween through mass media but in that ancient festival Celts were fond of.
I'll stick to gachas and buñuelos,what really makes sense to me in my culture.
